Monstruos de tierra

Ten hand-modelled stoneware pieces shaped to resemble the bones of Pleistocene megafauna lay over a room-wide bed of charcoal. The sculptures are accompanied by a narrative text written with charcoal on the wall and lit with strip lights covered with neutral density filters.

Wall text:

The bones of immense men rose from the cornfield:

a tibia, followed by a fibula.

A giant’s thigh bone was dug up from a well.

Vestiges with a horrible appearance,

monsters that fed on acorns and leaves.

Frightened they fled to the mountains

and, in the depth of the forest,

they pulled down the trees.

We then killed them all,

and the continents writhed in their foundations

so that no one would remember their names.
